Abstract

Juan Gotisolo is an example of a free and enlightened intellectual, who is open to other cultures besides his Spanish culture, especially the Arab-Islamic culture, and this research aims to trace these influences that he expresses his explicit influence, and his entire author may be based on an Arab-Islamic idea. His influence on Islamic mysticism has appeared in many of his works, and this may be reflected in some of his works in Spanish and in some of his translations into Arabic. As for the Arab-Islamic presence in Andalusia, the author shows that he played a fundamental role in shaping Spanish identity; Juan was a defender of humanitarian issues and a champion of the weak and oppressed in the world, an example of which is his novel “The Siege of Sieges” and the crimes committed by the Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. His support of the Palestinian cause in the face of the Zionist enemy in word and deed was one of his most prominent humanitarian stances.
